Nothing too crazy this week!

Nothing crazy is good. We saw Bilt’s launch go as smoothly as their initial 2.0 announcement, World Cup random selection draw announced (and I struck out), new Hyatt Journeys Promo (discussed below), and Rove Miles offering extra miles for signing up (my referral here is 1,500 miles vs. public offer of 1,000 miles). Also, JAL first class award deal at the end of this newsletter.

For those who are trying to get tickets to the 2026 World Cup and haven’t had much success, there’s one more fighting chance this Tuesday to buy tickets at “retail” (variable rate retail pricing from Fifa…). Those who have a Chase Sapphire card (Preferred, Reserve, Business + JPM Reserve) or a Wells Fargo Credit Card (no debit cards) have a chance on Tuesday at 12pm ET in first come first serve capacity. The bad news is you are competing against me, and I am a very fast clicker 😛

If you opened a BofA Custom Cash or Unlimited Cash Rewards card between 12/4/25 through 1/5/26, you can also fight for a ticket with Chase and WF cardholders…details here.

This week's highlights

New Hyatt Journeys promo

Hyatt now has an additional promo where you can earn 3k additional points for every 3 nights stayed between February 2 to April 15, 2026 + extra 1k bonus points for every 3 nights at Hyatt Place and Hyatt Select Hotels. You can combine this with other promos. With some outside the box thinking and luck in getting a Globalist challenge, maybe you could essentially spend

Terms

  • Get 3k bonus points after every 3 nights spent at eligible Hyatt hotels (any hotel under Hyatt brand including Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels, the Venetian Resort, and Homes & Hideaways by World of Hyatt). Max of 21k points

  • Get an additional 1k bonus points for every 3 nights at a Hyatt Place and Hyatt Select hotel. Max of 7k points.

  • Nights do not have to be consecutive

  • Can be paid through eligible cash rates or free night awards (points).

  • This promo can be combined with other offers

Stacking opportunity

Because the new Hyatt Journeys promo can be stacked with other promos, it could make sense to try to do a Globalist Status Challenge (not a match since you have to “earn it” through nights stayed) and earn some points along the way. There is officially no open challenge at the moment but one Redditor indicated they called in and were able to set up a challenge for themselves. Generally, one needs to spend 20 nights at eligible Hyatt hotels within 90 days to earn Globalist for the remainder of the year + potentially the next year. Globalist Lite!

Being a Hyatt Globalist includes benefits such as 4pm guaranteed late check-out at most hotels; free breakfast or club access; and better chances for upgrades.

Thinking a bit outside the box, what if you spent 15 nights at a Category 1 hotel at off-peak rates of 3.5k points/night (list of Cat 1 hotels here). Combine it with the 5k bonus points on 5+ nights (needs to be consecutive) at Hyatt House/Hyatt Studios promo and the 3k bonus points every 3 nights Hyatt Journeys promo. There are 13 Cat 1 Hyatt House/Studios in the US 😉. Hopefully you don’t need to status challenge the full 20 nights if you are seeking Globalist, as you should probably be a relatively frequent guest of the chain to actually benefit from this scheme.

The math becomes spend 5 nights at 3.5k (17.5k points cost if booking off-peak) and do this 3x. Every 5 night stay will earn you 5k points from the Hyatt House/Studio promo. You’ll also earn 3k points for every 3 nights. After 15 nights, you’ll have spent 52.5k Hyatt points on redemptions but earned 30k points back from promotions. The issue is that there are not many off-peak dates I could find, so anyone doing this, maybe you can all meet up in Mobile, Alabama!

Valentine’s Day Flight Deals

Hate to rub it in ahead of Valentine’s Day, but airlines continue to move the way to offer better pricing for those booking 2+ seats. It’s a part of the black box of airline revenue management that I will not pretend I understand. Thrifty Traveler wrote an article about how some airlines in the US were charging more for the same flight if just booking for 1 person instead of booking for 2+. Probably to capture inflexible business traveler $$. Here are some Valentine’s Day-themed deals that airlines are running. As always when booking flights, be aware of the fare rules including if they are refundable or changeable.

Singapore Airlines is offering up to 20% off companion fares for economy and premium economy flights. I am seeing premium economy flights from NYC to Bali for under $1,600 per person round-trip or flights from NYC to Singapore for ~$1,300 round-trip in premium economy (same trip was ~$1,400 if booking for one person).

This sale runs until February 14 and is available for dates between March 1 through November 30, 2026. Blackout dates include May 28 through July 19 on the outbound and July 20 to August 20 on the inbound.

Also I think we (me) missed the boat on the Valentine’s Day Giveaway. There was an entry round that had to be done before February 7. Oops.

La Compagnie has round-trip business class flights between New York and Paris or Milan for as low as $2,500 round-trip. Or New York to Nice for $3,200 round-trip. Flights are out of Newark (EWR). La Compagnie is a unique airline in that they fly a narrowbody A321neo with the entire cabin being lie-flat business class. Seats are in a 2-2 arrangement though, so it is better to travel with someone you know. But, you don’t actually need to book 2 tickets to get this promo fare.

Book this deal by February 16 for flights between February 14 to December 31, 2026.

Always be checking Amex offers

A new round of American Express offers just dropped. These are essentially coupons that are attached to your credit card but need to be manually activated. Airbnb, Virgin Atlantic, Aldi, Mandarin Oriental, and Moe’s Southwest Grill are some recent additions that might be interesting. There are other offers that may still be addable as well including earn 5x points at Sephora, $200 off $750+ at Lotte New York Palace, 15% back on one purchase at Shake Shack, and $10 off $50+ at Hello Fresh or Factor meals.

If you haven’t been checking your Amex offers constantly, you are leaving cash and points on the table. I have saved over $2,000 in the last few years and earned additional points as well.

Source: American Express

Also, a weird quirk with American Express is you can only view 100 offers at a time. So you may have to manually add a bunch of offers, log out, and log back in to view more offers.

American Express isn’t the only card company with offers. Chase also has their own along with Citi, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and US Bank. These offers can also be stacked with additional discounts such as using a shopping cashback portal such as Rakuten, AAdvantage Shopping, Capital One Offers or Shopping, or Rove. Always be checking, it will save you money.

Rove Miles promo through Feb. 11

For those unfamiliar, Rove is a new points platform that doesn’t require a credit card to earn points. You earn points through shopping online or through booking flights or hotels. These points are transferable to 13 different airline or hotel programs, including to some more obscure but potentially valuable options that don’t have other partners such as Lufthansa and Air India. I guess think of Rove as like a combination of Rakuten (cash back from shopping online) and a credit card travel portal (earn points for booking travel). If you are not signed up for Rove yet, you can get 1,500 miles instantly just by using my referral link. This is better than the current public signup offer of 1,000 miles.

Notably, Rove has an option that lets you book “Loyalty Eligible Stays” where you earn Rove Miles + Hotel points + keep loyalty benefits. Details from Rove here.

Rove also has a promotion running through February 11 where you can 7x Rove Miles per $1 (vs. 5x usually) for Loyalty Eligible hotel bookings, increased earnings on gift card purchases (4x on Visa and Mastercard GCs 👀), and you can get 250 bonus miles if you use #rovemiles on Instagram and submit proof. Details on Rove’s Built Better promo can be found here. I am sure there are ways to boost your miles fast with these options…
