Earlier this week, Iberia announced their plan to fly to Toronto (One Mile at a Time). Award flights are now loaded! Dates start in mid-June 2026 and availability to book is through October 2026. Credit to Thrifty Traveler in flagging availability. They will probably have a Black Friday sale next week, so good time to check out their award deal subscriptions.

Cost breakdown
British Airways or Iberia: 41k or 59k points depending on peak or off peak + $130-144 in tax/fees each way. Iberia charges €25 to change or cancel. British Airways charges $55 for changes/cancellations. Note: May not be able to select seats if you book through BA until check-in.

Tip: Capital One has a 20% bonus to British Airways through 11/21
How to search and book?
To quickly find dates, use the AA award calendar. However, AA is only getting 1 seat allocated to their program. If there is 1 seat on AA, there should be at least 2 available to book on British Airways or Iberia.
1) On the AA site, input destinations (YYZ/MAD) and choose “Redeem miles”. Keep the number of passengers at 1 since AA is only getting 1 seat (BA/IB should have 2+). Search a date between June-October 2026. Also search one-way.
2) The next screen will show a weekly calendar view. However, click on “Calendar” in the top right and it will pull up a monthly calendar view like below. Make sure to filter only nonstop and for business/first. Then find dates with 57.5k awards. These should be bookable on British Airways or Iberia’s own site.
3) Once you find the dates that work with your schedule, search the flight again on BA/IB’s own site and verify there is availability. Then transfer and book!

Iberia is using its new A321XLR on the Toronto-Madrid route. This is a narrowbody plane in a 1-1 layout. All business class seats are lie-flat.
