How to search and book?

It used to be very easy to use the Virgin Atlantic award calendar, but they got rid of that earlier this year…unfortunate. Another quick workaround is to use the Delta award calendar and filter for non-stop flights. Or use an award search tool like Seats.Aero or Roame.

Here’s the Delta award calendar trick.

1) Put in your destination, choose a random departure date, add number of passengers, check the “Shop with Miles” box, check the “My dates are flexible” box, click on “Advanced Search”, and then choose the Best Fares for Delta One. Then hit search.

Source: Delta

2) The next screen will show a weekly calendar view. However, if you choose the “Price Calendar” option on the top left, it should pull up a monthly calendar view.

Source: Delta

3) Once you are on the monthly calendar view, you will also need to filter for Non Stop flights on the top right. Then you will see a calendar view that should show direct flights between ATL/JFK/MIA and Lima. These are most likely going to be LATAM flights. The calendar will only show LATAM flights from JFK since only LATAM flies that nonstop route.

From Atlanta, you will have to do some more spot-checking and generally look for the “lower priced” option which is 195-200k points one-way. The 200k+ ones are generally Delta-operated flights on the ATL-LIM route instead of LATAM.

4) Once you found availability, double-check availability with the program you plan to book through, transfer your points, then book!

LATAM business class experience

All 3 routes (ATL/JFK/MIA and LIM) are serviced by LATAM’s 767-300s. There are 20 Vantage XL lie-flat business class seats in a 1-2-1 layout.

Flying out of JFK? You’ll actually have access to the Delta One lounge!

About Find Flights for Me.

I started the idea of Find Flights for Me back in 2023 to help educate and inspire people to use their credit card points more effectively, with a focus on using points to fly business and first class flights.

When I’m not working on Wall Street or searching for flight deals, you can find me planning for my upcoming wedding, enjoying local restaurants, helping my parents book their next trip, traveling internationally, or visiting friends/family in NYC, Philadelphia, or DC.
